Matthew Sweet Girlfriend 1991
I forget how great this album is until I play it. Matthew Sweet is a songwriter who bares his naked feelings in his work, his highs, lows, disappointments, crushes. He cuts to the chase with the title track when he writes "I want to love somebody, I hear you're looking for someone to love". "Nothing Lasts" is a pure corker, while "Evangeline" (while apparently based on a comic I've never read) is just the answer to everyone who's ever had designs upon a devoutly religous person.
This album stops me everytime, there's just something about it.

Back by popular demand
Howard Waldrop quotes an old b-grade director somewhere who fell 30 minutes behind schedule. When asked, he replied, "You mean someone's waiting to see this shit?"
Pan forward to 2003, and I've just had a browse at the angriest blogspot (see link this page). And Grant's left me a nice message telling me to update this blog. And yesterday I got an email from a friend with the same sort of message. My first thought went along the lines of, Someone's waiting to read this shit?
I know of about five people who read this blog. That's about 2 more than read most of my stuff, so I guess I've got an obligation to produce something. So forgive tonight's rambling and I'll endeavour to return to normal programming as soon as possible.
Stay tuned for: The Narrogin Observer; The ALP; Words.
