don't get mad, get smelly
Good morning world. It's my first morning in the new place. Spent the parts of yesterday not carrying and packing and unpacking trying to get the pilot light on the hot water system lit. All to no avail. I'm sitting here, not having had a shower in 24 hours after a day of much heavy, sweaty activity. And to top it all off, my wonderful landlord, the Government Employees Housing Authority (hereafter known as GEHA) don't fix hot water systems on Sundays. Day of rest and all that.

So I called the emergency hotline. Despite taking all my details, I was advised to call my local GEHA on Monday morning to make sure I got thing happening on this. Despite their handbook saying "Some maintenance matters arise unexpectedly and require immediate attention" (my emphasis). I didn't realise immediate meant not on Sundays.

And to top off my day Kelly, the very friendly person assisting me, laughed when I told her I'd be fronting up at my local GEHA office on Monday morning looking bedraggled and smelly after not having bathed in 48 hours. Maybe she should try going 2 days without a hot shower and see how it feels.

boxes
Well I've got a place to live now and began moving stuff today. I'm presently in that kind of inbetween where I'm still living at the old house while getting everything organised for the next place. Almost everything is in boxes, my room is bare except for essentials (bed, desk, computer, clothes), all of my kitchen goods are boxed, but I won't actually move the bulk of my stuff for another couple of days. But once that's done I'll be in a place where I can stay for a decent amount of time and not have to worry about housemates or moving.

The place has plenty of room, lots of storage and is all you could ask for in a house of beige fibro. Had a couple of teething problems with Telstra getting connected but thanks to the wonders of technology I should be fully operational tomorrow. And Saturday night I will be able to sleep soundly surrounded by what I've unpacked.

And then start planning the housewarming.
