and there's also the Santa market research idea bubbling away.

it's just not...
Got a new story idea. It's maybe 100 years down the track. The richer people have taken off for space stations and colonies, leaving the not so fortunate on earth. life goes on as always, just with poorer weather like droughts and floods and all the fun that the greenhouse effect brings.
Our intrepid reporter finds himself out in the bush, reporting on a cricket match. Two towns, who have been rivals for years, who somehow manage to scrape together enough players to field a side on a ground that has its fair share of clay.
For years I've wanted to write a sporting sf story, so I'm chuffed at the idea. I might think about a footy story in a similar vein.

green fish and ergonomics
I think that there are some really strange people out there using google. I'm not talking your average urban terrorists wanting to know how to make bombs and napalm, or your scientologists who get google to remove every site that says John Travolta has a big nose and a small penis, I'm talking really really strange.
Today's oddball referral from google was from someone logged in at Latrobe University, who wanted to know about "golf punk australia". Now I don't know about the weather at Latrobe but here in Northam it's almost to hot to wear your regular 18 hole Docs around the local course.
While we're talking about stationary hockey, you really have to see some country courses to believe them. Out at Brookton, there aren't "greens" as such. I don't think that any part of the course actually ever gets watered. Around the holes are areas of oiled sand, quite dark in colour. Or at least that's what someone told me they were. Aint much of a golfer, really.

how do you sleep?
Had a dream this morning that sold my last Ticonderoga books and was thinking about going back to small press publishing. Scary thing is, I didn't even eat chocolate last night. It's fortunate that I don't often believe in making dreams a reality.
One day I might put together a website just listing the books and cover pics etc, as the old ticonderoga site appears to have disappeared.

Russ Hinze may be dead, but...
Queenslanders fattest in the nation. Apparently, while the Australian average is 40 per cent overweight, Queenslanders roll in at 48%.
My theory is that they weighed Pauline Hanson's head, Jason Ackermanis' mouth and Wally Lewis' backside. Not even David Boon could compete with that.
