hanging out with the dream king
After hammering out the book I'm feeling a little "written-out", like there are things to work on but my mind just ain't there. I guess the couple of stinking hot days and still quite hot nights haven't helped things any.
In among a couple of medicinal hours of Civ III (and they have only been hours, no all-nighters yet) I've managed to knock off a couple of Sandman graphic novels: Season of Mists and The Doll's House. Sandman is great reading for me: it makes' me want to go forth and create bizarre worlds almost like ours but not quite, to fill a world with little magics. I've got a bit of one of those stories in the pipeline, but nothing major.
Tried going back over the cricket story tonight, it needs a fair bit of work. It's an sf story yet it's not written like a sf story, so no sf editor will go near it. So I need to make it a proper sf story.

laying out on the floor, drunk and poor
Well, more like mostly sober and not entirely poor, yet not quite as rich as I'd like. Still, I've survived another year, and I'd like to thank all the people who came to my birthday events and who emailed with good wishes. I'll get back to you all tomorrow I promise, now I've got some more time on my hands.
As Lee reports in his blog I did indeed put together a booklet to go with my hottest 131 (see previous post). Indeed indeed, I wrote 15,000 words all up on the subject: some good, some not great, but a lot of words none-the-less. It was a good exercise, and I'm glad I've done it, but now I'm looking forward to a couple of days of playing Civilisation III before getting back into updating websites, preparing for uni and stuff like that.
And catching up with the email I've been ignoring over the past week while I've been flat out writing.
