We are no longer a democracy

Federal public servants are being told what they can and cannot do in their own time.

Read it here http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200511/s1506651.htm and here http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200511/s1506401.htm"

The Federal Member for the Tasmanian seat of Denison, Duncan Kerr, says the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations has told agencies, including Centrelink, to deny staff access to personal and flexi-leave if it is suspected they will attend one of the rallies.

"Mr Kerr says a Centrelink memo also shows that leave already granted may be cancelled."

"But some public servants say they have been intimidated into not attending today's rallies."

Today is an Australia Wide Community Day of Action, and I would advise everyone in the community, not just union members, not just workers, but everyone to get out into the streets and show your support.

Show your support for the fact that workers are now being told what they can and can't do in their own time, that people are no longer free to use their lunch breaks, personal leave, annual leave or flexi-time the way they want to use it.

Because if we're seeing this now, just wait and see what's coming with this new legislation. Who knows, I might get arrested for sedition for just writing this.
